The Scottish Advisory Panel for Outdoor Education (SAPOE) is the forum where Scotland’s outdoor learning community collaborates to develop best practice in the design and safe delivery of outdoor learning for all children and young people in Scotland.
‘Curriculum beyond the classroom’, SAPOE’s new strategy for 2024–2029, sets out an ambitious vision for outdoor education in Scotland. It weaves together voices from members, insights from partners, and an understanding of the shifting environment around the sector.
At its heart, the strategy is about inspiring the next generation to learn, grow and thrive through experiences that reach far beyond the classroom walls. Our role was to translate this vision into a visual narrative and design for the report, using clean layouts, bold illustration and evocative imagery to capture the energy of outdoor learning while keeping the strategy’s detail clear and accessible. Every spread was designed to balance storytelling with clarity — creating a publication that not only informs but also inspires. The result is a report that feels alive with SAPOE’s mission: forward-looking, people-centred and rooted in the transformative power of the outdoors.
